More Robot corridors, incubators, KHR-3 (Korean) humanoid robot to debut in December
It looks like everyone (except Northern California) is trying to create a "robot-corridor" similar to the Silicon Valley ideal for robots. Here are some examples:
Osaka, Japan - Robotics initiative seeks to attract robot companys, Osaka University's Robo-Garage creates innovative robots including the Chroino, the first humanoid that doesn't have a bent-leg walk.
Pittsburgh - The Robotics Foundry seeks to encourage the development of a "robo-corridor" in the Pittsburgh area and throughout West Pennsylvania.
Pittsburgh - The Regional Industrial Development Corp. plans to invest $13 million in to convert a Heppenstall Co. plant in Lawrenceville into an incubator for robotics-related companies.
Pittsburgh - The Center for Defense Robotics is tapping into the 30 billion being allocated to the Future Combat Systems DOD program
Austin - A research center, being spearheaded by the University of Texas' IC2 Institute, to develop robotic manufacturing techniques instead of outsourcing factories to China and other countries.
Save Your Factory - Pushed by FAUNC robotics, the http://www.saveyourfactory.com website provides resources for automating, rather than outsourcing, US factories. Hmmmm, people still lose jobs either way!
